I have not the best fit in the world, but here is my take on things as a crappy HAV driver:
What I usually use (My anti-tank alt is completely different):
Hellbringer (Anti-Personnel Suppression Fire Sagaris):
- Large Missile Turret (Total splash damage is 480 in 8 meter splash, direct is 900, 2.5 second fire rate)
- 2X AT-1 Small Missile Launchers
- 5,300+ Shields with 26/s passive regen.
- Shield Recharger 1,570pts, 314pts/pulse, 30 second cooldown after 5 pulses.
- Two Shield 25% resists (Stacking penalty makes it 46.75%), with an extra 14% from a DCU (No stacking penalty). 60.75% total resist.
- EHP roughly 14,670 (13,500+ Shields & 1,162 Armor counting resists).
For Infantry:
I find that Swarm launchers are usually more irritation then threat. Forge guns usually make me weather a few hits and then move to a new area.
The most effective way to drive me off seems to be forge guns sniping from obscure angles on the ground, and swarm launchers covering the escape routes or large open areas from an elevated position as overwatch. REs are mostly useless as I make it a point to usually shoot the area I am about to drive over or am considering driving to. People wanting to drop REs on me are rarely successful unless I am incredibly distracted.
A small reminder that the front turret is obviously restricted in a forward 180 degree arc, and the turret mount can point forward, back, to the right but not the left. Ideally when engaging a tank you want to be at the 8-o-clock position to exploit this blind spot. try and take positions where you are not directly near a wall and preferably have your feet hidden, to avoid any splash damage to effect you (Such as the lower half of your body covered by a ridge a few meters ahead of you). Heavy use of nano hives (that are in cover) work wonders.
Never, ever, keep your position if you see that the tank has noticed you. Be still or be predictable and you will end up dead.
For Vehicles:
- Dropships should be as high of an elevation as possible to avoid the tank from being able to target you. Constant harassment can be devastating. Never park yourself on a tower as a tank can snipe you off with ease if he is on the other side of the map.
- LAVs should use their speed to make occasional snipes. Very dangerous if the HAV has support gunners.
- HAVs should always bring support gunners before taking on another tank, as the other tank usually has support gunners as well. Try and hit them from the rear, if there is a tank in the distance in urban, do your best to find a path behind him, as a first few salvos without retort can be game-changing. If he is in open, try and roll out of cover, fire off a few salvos and make sure you have cover that is easily close by to roll back if things go bad.
- If in a blaster tank, always hunt in closed areas as you out-DPS in close range but are sitting duck at long.
- Try and remember where your AV infantry are or friendly turrets, and use them as bait for the HAV to notice first.
